Softball is a bat – and – ball sport and a type of baseball in which two teams of nine players (in fast – pitch softball) or ten players (in slow – pitch softball) compete with each other, taking their turns of batting and fielding. Contrary to baseball, softball is played on a smaller field with a larger ball.

Softball is not an Olympic sport. Not only is it being played as a recreational activity, it has world championship competitions as well.
