It is caused by “Herpes Simplex Virus”. Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 causes “Herpes Labialis”, which is commonly famous as cold sores, and Herpes Simplex Virus type 2 mainly affects genitals which is called “Herpes Genitalis”.
Cold sores are reactivation of sleeping viruses and usually appear after stress, fever, excessive exposure to sun, sleep deprivation, and even menstruation. Before appearing the blisters, the person may feel tingling and burning sensations. Recurrences occur at the same site. Cold sores usually heal completely without leaving a scar.
Infection of a finger by herpes virus causes a viral infection, referred to as a “Herpetic Whitlow”, which is painful and red.

- Foods high in lysine: beef, chicken, halibut, salmon, tuna, turkey, and yeast.
- Fruits and vegetables rich in bioflavonoids: colored vegetables, and berries.
- Red grapes: it contains resveratrol that slows down growth of the virus.
- Sumac: this red-colored spice has a high ORAC value, supporting the immune system.
Recommended Supplements:
- Lysine: 1500 mg a day. This amino acid suppresses the growth of the virus.
- Vitamin C: 2000 – 3000 mg a day.
- French Maritime Pine Bark Extract: 100 – 200 mg a day.
- Resveratrol: 50 – 200 mg a day.
- Zinc: 50 – 100 mg a day.
- Lemon Balm: apply the extract or cream on the blisters.
